Hollow Knight
Literally one of my favorite games ever. Go into this game with a willingness to get lost and find something new to explore around every corner. I think this game has a little something for everyone: combat, lore if you're into that, lots of secrets, funny weird characters, and a great grasp of tone. This is a game to play if you want a bit of a challenge. I'd advise finding someone to guide you or give hints when youre stuck instead of using a walkthrough. Also, rather than watching the mossbag "complete lore" video (I personally dislike some of the jokes he makes during it), I think you can pretty much use the in-game lore and the wiki to gather the plot in a way that is more fun and more objective.
Deltarune
Got me back into video games! I think if you were a kid who grew up on the internet then the art, music, etc. will strike a chord for you. The music is crazy good and perhaps one of my favorite game soundtracks. I listen to the soundtrack on long drives in the fall.
Link's awakening HD Remake
If you play this one it'll be for the accessibility and the cuteness. The music has been lovingly remastered (and updated) to have a cute toy theming to it. Recently I learned that the composer (Ryo Nagamatsu) has been behind some of my favorite nintendo soundtracks (splatoon, SMG2, splatoon 2 octo expansion, etc.). If you don't play it, at least listen to some of the music. If you do play it, be warned that you will want a zeldadungeon.net guide accessible... This is an old zelda game at heart.
Franken RPG
Simple indie RPG made using licensed music and a game engine from the 2000s. But it's a totally fun jaunt with awesome art and well selected tracks! It's respectful of your time. And... it's free! I like this one a lot. The humor is pretty good, probably because the dev is very funny. Does have a few adult jokes in it. Also contains some genuinely cool writing lines. If I had played this as a kid it would have altered my brain. https://splendidland.itch.io/franken
